- Clean Hands - Look for a shop where they wash their hands before
they touch you, especially in the cold and flu season. We do it for the
same reasons your doctor washes his hands. Here in Texas, it's against
the law to cut your hair with unsanitary hands.
9
- Sinks - Look for a place that has sinks for hand washing. If they
don't have 'em, can they use 'em? .
8
- Jars of "Blue Stuff" - Check the disinfectant jars. Full of combs?
Good. Full of fresh disinfectant solution? If not -- oh oh. Is there a
lot of gunk at the bottom? Ooh, nasty. Do you want them to use those combs
on you?
7
- Combs and Brushes - Is that comb they're about to put in your hair
clean? Does that brush have bits of stranger's hair still in it? Have they
been sanitized? No? Well, come see us at King Barber. We'll treat you right.
6
- Clippers and Plastic Clipper Guides - Are they clean and were they
sanitized? We sanitize the plastic clipper adaptors the same way we do
our other combs. And we brush and spray the metal blades with a special
disinfectant spray after every customer, Feel free to ask us for the details
on our process.
5
- Scissors and Razors - Are they clean? Here at King Barber, we clean
and sanitize them after each customer so that you don't have to worry about
any unfriendly germs. And we use disposable razor blades, and discard them
after each use.
4
- Neck Dusters - These are the brushes we use to dust the bits of hair
off your neck and face when we're done with your haircut. Instead of using
the same brush on customers for weeks and months on end without ever cleaning
them, we at King Barber, use a brush one time, and then we soak them overnight
in bleach water. Only when it is thoroughly sanitized will we allow it
to be used on another customer. This means that we have to keep several
hundred extra brushes in the shop, but that's what we do to protect your
good health.
3
- Jars of Product - Here at King Barber, we never put our fingers in
jars of shaving cream, butch wax, after shave cream, or other stuff. Instead,
we dip it out with wood popsicle sticks. Why? If you look in a jar that's
been dipped with bare fingers, you'll see bits of hair and dirt from other
folks in them. If you want clean stuff, yes, we'll have it ready for you.
We'll be glad to show you how well our system works.
2
- Neck Strips - make sure your hair cutter puts one around your neck
so that the chair cloth does not touch your skin, otherwise you could pick
up a virus or skin disease. We use sturdy terry cloth neckstrips that won't
wimp out like the flimsy tissue strips do. Plus, they do a better job of
keeping bits of itchy hair from sliding down your neck.
1
- License to Cut Hair - Every barber at King Barber is licensed and
certified by the State of Texas, and has a valid license at their workstation.
We have been trained in Authentic Barbering techniques as well as the sanitary
procedures necessary to protect your good health. Our shop has been inspected
and approved by a state inspector for cleanliness, so we stand ready for
your inspection and approval.
